Tunnel Barn Farm Winter League Report

Tunnel Barn Farm Winter League Report

The Tunnel Barn Farm Winter League for 2011/2012, has yet again proved to be highly successful. The weather has been kinder to us this year with the anglers only having to break ice for one match towards the end of the series.

All the lakes have fished well, in particular, the Top pool which produced many match winning weights with weight in excess of 90lb in some matches. The Club pool has also fished extremely well with weights in excess of 100lb being recorded.

Congratulations to Banbury Gunsmiths who successfully defended their title, closely followed by Barston.   Banbury lead the league from day one and have been closely pursued by Barston, Match Fishing Drawbags and ABU throughout the league.  The winning team members from left to right are:

Mark Pollard, Stu Palsar, Pete Caton & Steve Townsend.

The final match saw Des Shipp take the honours from New 21 with 68-4, fishing 3 pole lines at 6m, 8m and 12m on the deck using pellet. His bag included 24lb of the newly introduced stockie carp which averaged 6oz a piece, the rest of his catch consisted of F1 carp to 2lb. He was backed up by team mate Pete Rice who weighed 63- from Club 1. Pete fished down the side at 4m and out into the open water at 6m for a bag of stockies and F1 carp. Despite their best effort the points difference was just too much and Banbury walked away with it.

The top individual anglers over the series with the best 6 results out of 10 were headed by Steve Ringer who fished for Match Fishing Drawbags. He was closely followed by Stu Palsar and Pete Caton of Banbury Gunsmiths, with Richard Knowles of MCM coming in 4th and Andy Bennett of Fox Guru coming in 5th.

All team captains were extremely happy with the way the series went and out of the 21 places available for the 2012/2013 series, 20 have been filled already.

We would like to thank all of the anglers that have fished this year’s league and look forward to seeing them again when the league starts again on October 20th 2012. For any teams wishing to participate in next year’s league, please forward you details to Sarah at info@tbftackle.com or speak to Les in the shop on 01926 842188.
